The Day
Travel and Stay
Getting here
Everyone should fly into Thessaloniki Airport (SKG). There are direct flights from Rome (FCO) and Milan, as well as from Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS).
SKG is a small airport, so arrivals are usually quick and straightforward. Taxis are inexpensive in Greece. You can pick up a taxi directly outside the terminal or book one using the FREE NOW app, which operates in Thessaloniki.

Where to stay
You can choose to stay in Thessaloniki, close to the city's restaurants, bars, and sights, or by the sea for a more relaxed stay near the coast.

Thessaloniki is also a great starting point for exploring more of northern Greece. From there, it's easy to continue on to Halkidiki or travel to the nearby islands, so if you'd like to extend your trip after the wedding, there are plenty of options.
The City
On foot
- The White Tower and three kilometres of seafront gardens, best in the late afternoon.
- Aristotelous Square down to the water, with the Kapani and Modiano markets a block behind it.
- Ano Poli, the old town on the hill, Byzantine walls, Ottoman lanes, the best view over the bay at sunset. brief tour, great view
Heptapyrgion - The Rotunda, the Arch of Galerius, and the Archaeological Museum for the Macedonian gold.
To eat
- Bougatsa: sweet, or with cheese is perfect for breakfast.
- Ladadika after dark: the old ouzo quarter, a table of small plates and tsipouro.
- Seafood tavernas along the waterfront, and the ouzeri on Aristotelous street for the classic.
- Ice cream on the promenade, the Thessaloniki way, after dinner.
A day out
- Meteora: the cliff-top monasteries, three hours each way and worth every one.
- The beaches of Halkidiki, or a Blue Lagoon boat trip with lunch.
- Vergina and Pella: the royal Macedonian tombs that were found intact, an hour away.
- Mount Olympus and ancient Dion, south down the coast.
What to Bring
September in Thessaloniki
September is usually warm and sunny in Thessaloniki, with daytime temperatures often reaching the high twenties. Evenings are cooler, especially once the sun goes down and the breeze comes in from the gulf, so it's worth bringing something light to throw on later in the night.

Questions & Answers
What time should I arrive?
The ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM. We recommend arriving a little early and being seated by 5:15 PM so everything can start smoothly.
Are the ceremony and the reception in the same place?
Yes. Both the ceremony and reception will take place at Villa Cortenza, so once you arrive, you won't need to go anywhere else.
Can I bring a plus one?
Yes. Just let us know in the RSVP so we can count you both in.
Are children welcome?
Yes, very much. Bring them along.
Is there parking at the villa?
Yes, there's parking at Villa Cortenza.
Registry
Honestly, the fact that you're travelling all this way for us is already a gift. Making the journey, using some of your precious time off, and most of all being there to celebrate with us truly means so much.
